Well today is Cyber Monday...  We all survived Black Friday and by now hopefully the tryptophan has worn off.  These are ALL buzz words we never heard some 20 years ago.

And no where in the Texas Highways Magazine featured a story about Calhoun County will you see these words. Calhoun County is the where the original seaport to Texas lies dating back to the 1800's..... The article titled "The Spirit of the Bay" covers Matagorda Bay, Birding, Fishing, Historic Indianola, Port Lavaca and Port O Connor and more.

Here is a link to the article

WOW!  is all that can be said....

Delveloping this project has had me confined to either a 8 x 11.5 or a 24 x 36 inch piece of paper....  Nothing and I do mean nothing is like seeing the lake staked out.

It is HUGE!!!!!  I had to re-measure second guessing our GPS system.....  Nope... I was wrong...  "It really is the difference between a pond and a lake senor" as Johnny our foreman stated....  A friend asked if he school put his jet ski in it when done....

Well we will not have jet ski's, swimming or boats; however, we are creating more than just a hole in the ground. Working with Pond Management consultant, Rick Hodges of  http://texaslakesandponds.com/ we will have a state of the art lake designed to GROW fish.   The lake over 15,000,000 million gallons in size will have multi-level nooks and crannies along with spawning areas, underwater structures and be aerated with state of the art fountain systems.

The heat, rattlesnakes and rain have not stopped the progress this  last week. With 2 dozers on site, the stripping of vegetation and some unwanted  roots is well underway.

Arriving on site this week will be two earthmoving dump trucks and  a HUGE track hoe. Additional grading and clearing continues and while not  comparable to Boston’s BIG DIG we will start excavation on the 4 acre lake later this week.

The Eagle Ford Shale Project in South Texas has local  towns scrambling for housing for the large influx of contract workers. RV Parks are full and numerous parks are being built as fast as possible.

Now along the Gulf Coast Matagorda County and its  neighboring counties are set for the same influx of Contractors for years to  come. Not only are new gas pipelines bringing in high paying jobs the White Stallion Energy Center  this last week cleared additional hurdles. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded the plant a permit to build a  loading and unloading facility on the Colorado River. And the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality issued a water quality certification to compliment the air permit the Plant already had obtained. A construction date has been slated for the end of the 1st quarter of 2012.

What does this mean? Several years of building and requiring 2200-2500 contract workers to complete the facility. Bay City began gearing up with several new hotels for the South Texas Nuclear Power Plant which was put on hold due to the Japan Tsunami and Nuclear Reactor shutdown. Recently Bay City Holiday RV Park and 60 North RV Park two new RV parks in Bay City have been constructed. A little  further south down 35 and just 48 miles from the White Stallion plant in the town of Port Lavaca, Texas New Port Lavaca RV Park is developing over 97 sites.

This winter, South Texas RV parks are full leaving many Winter  Texans with little options as they return to their favorite parks of resorts  fall and spring.  Our loyal Winter  Texans returning for the warm climate and southern hospitality are being
challenged to find a place to stay.

The reason, Eagle Ford Shale an oil and gas project amassing   hundreds of thousands of acres from the South Texas border extending over 400   miles in length and over 50 miles wide (Eagle Ford Shale map ). Small towns in Texas where deer season was once the  biggest population increase that the locals looked forward to are now booming  with BIG dollars and deeper pockets of Oil and Gas exploration companies.   These companies have brought on  such an economic impact to such towns that ALL RV parks and hotels are 100%  occupied and have waiting lists.  Subsequently, empty fields have been turned into TV parks overnight and towns are building hotels that the room capacity will far exceed the population  of the towns themselves.

Call before you come!  Book now and book for next year too! This project is going to last  year. Texas Lakeside RV Resort in Port Lavaca, Texas , under construction now will have sites available  beginning in December. The clubhouse, cable TV and Wi-Fi, swimming pool, hot tub and laundry will still be under construction and there are discounted  construction rates being offered.
